{"id":644,"date":"2015-07-29T07:24:50","date_gmt":"2015-07-29T02:24:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stonemillkids.com\/?p=644"},"modified":"2016-09-01T21:22:24","modified_gmt":"2016-09-01T16:22:24","slug":"redesigning-gameplay-based-on-test-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.stonemillkids.com\/index.php\/2015\/07\/29\/redesigning-gameplay-based-on-test-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Redesigning Gameplay Based on Test Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I still have not done much with the overall structure of the app.\u00a0 I want to get the Settings Menu, Splash screen, etc. working as fast as possible but after play testing I feel I have a larger issue&#8230;. actually I have two.<\/p>\n<p>Little kids fingers are touching the screen everywhere.\u00a0 This is complex to try to solve.\u00a0 My basic idea is instead of tracking a single bubble, I need to track an array of bubbles.\u00a0 For my code, it means I need to refactor a couple of things,<\/p>\n<p>First, I need to move tracking to an array of tracking.\u00a0 This adds almost forces the secondary design consideration of restructuring the Bubble class to be based on a center and a radius.\u00a0 This is not a hard problem to solve, but it creates a need to refactor the Bubble class and put it under test.<\/p>\n<p>Second, need to make sure that the use cases for the edge of the screen.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want the kids to grow a bubble so big on the sides.\u00a0 My solution for this is to add a border, and reduce the play area.<\/p>\n<p>That means, I am actually going to do this in easy order:<\/p>\n<p>1) Reduce the playing area<\/p>\n<p>2) Put the Bubble class under test<\/p>\n<p>3) Transition the Bubble class to Radius and Center based.<\/p>\n<p>4)\u00a0Track an array of fingers, not just the first.<\/p>\n<p>5)\u00a0Lastly, and only if needed, adjust the logic\u00a0for growing bubbles, etc.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note:\u00a0\u00a0Depending on the audience, I expect #5 to not be needed, but I need to add this to my list as it can impact my original audience.\u00a0 I really want this to be playable by the\u00a0youngest of players with\u00a0advanced gameplay for the older audience. <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I still have not done much with the overall structure of the app.\u00a0 I want to get the Settings Menu, Splash screen, etc. working as fast as possible but after play testing I feel I have a larger issue&#8230;. actually I have two.
